Casino glam and how to practice

If you really want to glam it up — there are few better places to do this than in a casino. This is the stuff of James Bond movies where our hero is seduced or does the seducing with a glamorous woman. Of course, the femme fatale never gets the better of the super spy, but she is always glamorous. These days, the casinos aren't like that. Basically — anything goes. But you do see quite a few people stepping out in style along with quite a few celebrities in the more up-market places. And these are the ones to go for if you really fancy a fancy night playing Baccarat, sipping cocktails and pretending you're a high-roller for the evening.

But you need to prepare first — so here's how.

Firstly — as far as playing the casino games are concerned, it's easy to become au-fait before you go by practicing online. The online casino business sis a competitive one, too, so you can benefit from pocketing the free cash of an introductory offer or two and learning to play the games so you can feel like an expert before you go. Pretty much all the major, reputable, online casinos have generous offers — though these are constantly shifting. If you play online at 32Red Canada, or go to 888, Skyvegas or another online casino, you'll be able to play the games for free in demo mode — or to benefit from the free offers of cash in return for a little of your own cash deposited. Then simply read the rules and start playing your chosen game(s).

As for the real thing — if you're looking for a little glamour and sophistication but want to keep it simple, then the roulette tables are always the easiest place to start and the odds get pretty close to even so you should only lose your shirt very gradually!

And as for the outfit itself — this depends on which casino you're going to. There are usually no formal dress codes or requirements (beyond the "no shirt, and/or no shoes means no service" type of rule) but many people do try and glam it up a little — particularly for the evenings. And it's fun to do this. So think evening wear, and get the man in your life to wear a smart suit (preferably a dark one) and a tie. This makes the whole thing more interesting and lends the evening a touch of class as befits a nice casino resort, a cocktail or two — and a night at the gaming tables. At least you can pretend you're in a James Bond movie for a few hours.

If you ever get the chance, though, visit the original Monte Carlo casino in Monaco. This is a beautiful building and the true essence of what casino glamour is really all about. If you feel like pushing the boat out, you can stay here and enjoy the rooms and spa and even the private gaming areas open each Thursday to Sunday and on holidays from 4pm. Here, you can enjoy European Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat Chemin de Fer and Punto Banco — and feel like Princess Grace into the bargain.
